Philippe Becker

Dr. Becker has been with Wasserstein & Co. since 2002.
He has had significant experience in both R&D, operational management, manufacturing, and M&A in the high tech area.
His experience has spanned large companies and mid-size companies as well as founding a startup.
Dr. Becker began his career at Bell Laboratories in 1986.
His main research interests in his ten years at Bell Labs were in high-speed fiber optic transmission and laser technology.
While at Bell Laboratories, he was one of the pioneers of the erbium-doped fiber amplifier.
He was a visiting professor at the University of Tokyo in 1993 where he occupied the NEC Chair in Computers and Communications.
Dr Becker worked in the Lucent Technologies M&A group in 1996, during the inception of Lucent.
He was director of product management and marketing of the Lucent passive optical network group from 1997 to 2000 during which time he was responsible for several customer wins in both the US and Japan.
He joined Corvis in 2000 as vice president of product management.
He was responsible for Corvis product portfolio of intelligent all-optical networking solutions.
Dr. Becker is co-author of an Academic Press book on erbium-doped fiber amplifier technology.
Dr. Becker has a Ph.D.
in physics from UC Berkeley and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
