Dr. Serkan Çiçek is a Research Associate at The Vienna Institute for International Economic Studies.
He focuses on applied macroeconomics, monetary policy, and central banking issues.
In his recent research, he has analyzed the asymmetric anchoring of inflation expectations to inflation targets and actual inflation during the inflation-targeting period.
He was distinguished by numerous academic awards, such as the 2014 and 2010 Academic Encouragement Award of the Central Bank of Turkey (CBRT), the 2012 Translation Award by the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TUBA), and the 2009 Ph.D.
Encouragement Award by the Turkish Economic Association (TEK).
Before joining the wiiw, he was Associated Professor at Mugla University and Assistant Professor at Maltepe University in Turkey.
Dr. Çiçek obtained his Ph.D.
in Economics at the Yildiz Technical University (TR, 2009) and was a postdoctoral fellow in Economics at the University of York (the UK, 2012).
