Stephen J. Spann

Dr. Spann has been a professor at Baylor College of Medicine since 1997 and serves as chair of the department of Family and Community Medicine.
He was an instructor at Bowman-Gray School of Medicine in North Carolina, as well as associate professor of family medicine at Oklahoma University Health Center.
From Oklahoma he transferred to Galveston where he was professor and chairman of the Department of Family Medicine at The University of Texas Medical Branch.
The author of many published articles and texts, Dr. Spann’s current research includes cancer screening, reduction and decision-making in the areas of prostate, breast, and colorectal cancer.
After graduating from Baylor University in 1972, Dr. Spann earned his M.D.
from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston in only three years.
He completed his internship at Baylor as well, his residency at Duke University in North Carolina and also earned an MBA from The University of Texas at Dallas in 2004.
