Amaratpal Kaur

Ms. Amaratpal Kaur, Investment Manager, joined MAVCAP in 2004 and to date has reviewed 91 companies requesting funds totalling RM1.36 Billion and taken 7 to the investment committee valued at RM14.6 Million.
Her primary interest is to develop and implement successful business strategies for the electronics, telecommunications, mobile communications, renewable energy, oil & gas and semiconductor sectors.
In the past year, she has been involved in the outsource partners program where her contribution is in the due process of selection by MAVCAP and finalizing legal agreements to the fund managers.
In investments and management of portfolios, she carries out analysis of markets, competitive positioning of products and technologies, identifying strategic relationships, conduct objective evaluation of issues and financial analysis, providing insights and information that is otherwise not available.
Her interest is in mentoring and coaching entrepreneurs and sincerely believes that access to growing markets and good management is pinnacle to the success of local start-ups.
Prior to joining MAVCAP, she worked at SIRIM Berhad as a Researcher where her main involvement was in activities revolved in project planning and development along with consultation to Industry and various Government Agencies.
Key tasks included Identification, Design of Project/Experiment, Implementation, Project Management, Monitoring of Projects, Trouble Shooting engineering problems, Initiating Collaborative work efforts locally and overseas, Handling Grant Write-ups, Identification of Key Project Members and Team Management, Interviews with Malaysian Industry Players, Strategic Planning and Documentation.
Her educational background is a PhD in Photonics and a Masters of Engineering from Loughborough University, UK via a scholarship from the Asian Development Bank and SIRIM Berhad.
