GMP Investment Management (GMPIM) seeks to generate superior risk-adjusted absolute investment returns over the long-term by utilizing an integrated multi-strategy approach consisting of diversified investment strategies. The firm employs a variety of proprietary strategies, systems and technologies with the objective of delivering steady growth and low volatility. GMPIM's portfolio managers adhere to the firm's proprietary investment processes and models to analyze the relative investment attractiveness of various securities, industries and situations, depending on where they are in the market cycle. They also employ a rigorous risk management process, which encompasses strict guidelines with respect to single-name and industry concentrations and liquidity. The GMPIM Equity Opportunities Fund (EOF) is a long/short equity fund that focuses on the Canadian and US investment universe. The EOF seeks to preserve capital, manage volatility and provide attractive returns. To be able to capitalize on all market conditions, EOF employs 5 five core strategies, with broad sector representation. The EOF seeks to generate superior risk-adjusted returns over the long-term by utilizing GMPIM's proprietary Cyclical and Quantitative Investment Process. The Canadian Asset Backed Commercial Paper Fund (ABCP Fund) invests in securities from the Master Asset Vehicles (MAV) that were created after the restructuring of the non-bank sponsored Canadian ABCP market in 2008. The fund seeks to capitalize on the attractive risk/return potential of this liquid, $10.5 billion market opportunity. The GMPIM Equity Opportunities Fund (EO Fund) seeks to generate superior risk-adjusted returns over the long-term by utilizing GMPIM's proprietary Cyclical and Quantitative Investment process. The GMP Diversified Alpha Fund (Alpha Fund) is a tax-effective, multi-strategy fund consisting of diversified investments. The fund seeks to generate optimal risk-adjusted absolute returns over the long-term and to preserve capital through the ongoing use of prudent risk-management tools. In managing this fund, GMPIM applies a 'hub and spoke' structure. The Alpha Fund's mandate allows for exposure to equity, credit and quantitative investment opportunities. GMPIM's investment process seeks to identify the best combination of investments from a wide range of opportunities across all asset classes. Each strategy has target ranges for capital allocation. Within each strategy, there are also limits by sub-strategy and position. These limits are based on: (1) the potential drawdown in each strategy (2) the underlying liquidity of each investment and (3) portfolio diversity requirements.
