The Pula Fund is a Botswana-based Sovereign Wealth Fund which was established in 1993 under the Bank of Botswana Act. Owned jointly by the government and the Bank of Botswana, the Pula Fund is part of the foreign exchange reserves funded by Botswana's diamond mining revenues. Based in Gaborone, The Pula Fund is a long-term fund which is exclusively invested in foreign currency-denominated assets. The fund invests in public equity and fixed-income instruments in industrialized and developed economies. The investment objectives are based on sustaining purchasing power of the reserves and maximizing returns within an acceptable level of risk. The Pula fund does not invest in emerging markets.
