Zurab Nogaideli

Mr. Zurab Nogaideli is Co-Founder and Chairman of Kala Capital Ltd.
Prior to joining the company, he served Georgia as Prime Minister.
During that time, he implemented government reforms that led to the country’s sweeping transformation into a market-driven economy.
Mr. Zurab Nogaideli served as Prime Minister of Georgia from 2005 through 2007.
He introduced reforms that transformed the country’s economy and spurred foreign investment.
Georgia has implemented transformational economic reforms and an aggressive privatization policy of state-owned enterprises.
The latest World Bank/International Finance Corporation report “Doing Business 2008” ranked Georgia 18th out of 178 countries in terms of ease of doing business.
Mr. Nogaideli started his political career in the 1990s.
He became a deputy in the Paliament of Georgia in 1992 and chaired the Parliamentary Committee on Environment Protection and Natural Resources from 1992-1995.
He later chaired the Parliamentary Tax and Income Committee.
He was named Minister of Finance in 2000 where he gained a reputation as an effective minister.
After a brief sabbatical from politics, he returned to government in 2003 as the economic adviser to the acting president and was re-appointed to the post of Minister of Finance in 2004.
Mr. Nogaideli was honored as the “top business environment reformer” by the World Bank Group and the U.S.
Agency for International Development.
Born in in Kobuleti, Ajaria, Georgia, Noghaideli graduated from the Moscow Stat University with a diploma in Physics in 1988.
Before entering into politics, he worked for the Institute of Geography of the Georgian Academy of Sciences.
He was also trained at the Institute of Geology of the Academy of Sciences of Estonia.
