Arnold Investment Counsel employs a value investment approach. They structure portfolios using a combination of fundamental and market analyses. Arnold invests exclusively in highly-marketable securities. They do not employ special techniques, derivative securities or computer models. The firm tends to invest in the stocks of US large-cap companies in the consumer non-durables, health technology and finance sectors. They also invest in Europe and Asia. The firm manages the Primary Trend fund, a growth and income fund that focuses on long-term investments in undervalued common stocks. The Fund is flexible and also invests in convertible securities, fixed-income securities and short-term money market instruments.

Functions as a College/University

GVCM uses technical and quantitative analysis in the selection of specific investments for the portfolios. The firm then employs momentum-based, relative strength and trend following analysis to further identify the specific securities selected and the weighting used to gain exposure to market leaders. To provide downside protection in a bear market, stoploss limits allow for the assets to shift to money market or bond investments.
