From 1996 to 2001, he headed the client advisory practices of Guinness Mahon and Granville Baird.
He was subsequently a Chief Executive of Linguaphone Group plc, an international language publisher, before returning to investment markets.
He graduated with an MA in History from Oxford University.
He qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Peat Marwick Mitchell (now KPMG).
