The non-profit company is based in Bridgeport, CT. In 1985, the museum shifted its mission to focus on science and art, renovating its facility and installing interactive science exhibits. The museum developed a science curriculum aligned with Connecticut State Department of Education standards and, in 1990, became The Discovery Museum, emphasizing hands-on experiences and participatory education. The Challenger Learning Center was installed in 1991, and the museum later concentrated its efforts on science and technology, hosting traveling, hands-on science exhibitions and advancing math and science education. The Discovery Museum was founded in 1958 and opened to the public in 1962 as The Museum of Art Science and Industry, offering exhibits in natural and physical sciences as well as decorative and fine arts.

Jacoby Creek Children's Education Foundation is a nonprofit organization established in 1983 to support the Jacoby Creek School District. The non-profit company is based in Bayside, CA. Comprised of parents, staff, and community members, the foundation provides financial assistance to develop and maintain educational programs for students at Jacoby Creek School. It encourages community involvement through volunteering, board participation, and donations, and organizes events and programs such as the annual tote design contest, spring fling community celebration, panther pentathlon, and scholarship awards. The foundation grants scholarships annually to former Jacoby Creek School students pursuing higher education.
