Cline has been Vice President of Support Operations for Winn-Dixie Stores, Inc. since November 20, 2008 and a Director of PepsiAmerica, Inc. since 1987.
He is a Director-Emeritus of the University of Illinois Foundation.
Mr. Cline is a Director of Ryerson Tull, Inc. and Chairman of The Northern Funds and The Northern Institutional Funds.
He founded Hawthorne Investors, Inc. in 1996 and serves as Chairman.
Most recently, Mr. Cline was Vice President of Store Operations for Pamida.
He had been President and Chief Operating Officer of Nicor, Inc. since 1985 and was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer from 1986 to May 1995.
Prior to joining Nicor, Mr. Cline was an Executive of Jewel Cos., Inc. for 22 years and had been Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer since 1984.
He was Chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.
Mr. Cline began his career at Jewel-Osco and Albertsons.
He was Chairman of Hussmann International, Inc. from 1998 to 2000.
Mr. Cline was President of the University of Illinois Foundation.
