Benedikt Jóhannesson

Benedikt Jóhannesson has founded Talnakönnun hf in 1984, where he currently holds the title of Chief Executive Officer.
He is also currently working as the Chief Executive Officer at Heimur hf, Chairman at Applicon Holding Ehf, Director at Íslenska Óperan Ses, and Minister of Finance & Economic Affairs at the Government of Iceland.
In his former positions, Dr. Jóhannesson has served as Chairman at Skel fjárfestingafélag hf, Vátryggingafélag Íslands hf., Líftryggingafélag Íslands hf, Origo hf, Hans Petersen hf, The Icelandic Mathematical Society, Burðarás hf, Eimskip Ísland ehf, Eimskip Holdings, Inc., and Myllan Brauð Hf.
He has also held the position of Principal at the University of Iceland from 1988 to 1988 and at the University of Akureyri from 1993 to 1993.
Dr. Jóhannesson has obtained his graduate and doctorate degrees from Florida State University in 1979 and his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1977.
