Balaran is a Portfolio Manager at Brown Advisory LLC.
She manages balanced portfolios for private clients and smaller not-for-profits.
Within Brown Advisory, she is a senior member of the Women of Washington group which is building a strong, growing network of women to learn from and lean on.
Prior to joining Brown Advisory in 2009, Ms. Balaran was managing director at FBR Private Wealth in Arlington, Virginia (1999-2009) where she served as investment advisor to a number of Washington, D.C.-area private clients and philanthropies.
From 1995-1996, she was a managing director overseeing client services at Potomac Asset Management in Bethesda, Maryland.
In 1995, she was a consultant to the World Bank in Washington, D.C., assisting the pension investment team in its evaluation of global portfolio risk.
She began her investing career in New York where she spent a decade (1984-1994) at Sanford C.
Bernstein & Co., focusing largely on private client management.
Ms. Balaran received her undergraduate degree from George Washington University.
