He has early career experience as a Product Manager at Fairchild Semiconductor and ten years as a Chief Financial Officer in three Silicon Valley technology start-ups.
He began investing as a Senior Vice President of Wells Fargo Investment Company, with early investments in Intel, Rolm and Storage Technology, among others.
He later managed DSC Ventures for the Ray Noorda family for six years prior to founding Novus.
Mr. Tompkins earned his BA and BSEE from Rice University and his MBA from Stanford University.
