He joined Phillips, Hager and North Investment Management in 1997 and became a partner and vice president in 1999.

He graduated from the UBC Faculty of Commerce in 1993 as a Leslie Wong Fellow with a Bachelor of Commerce in Honors Finance.
He obtained his Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 1996.
