The equity team formulates a portfolio strategy based on the themes and sectors that benefit from the forecast environment. Within these sectors, value and growth companies, with a bias to value, are selected. Excellent company management, product momentum, a strong balance sheet and a stock price that has not yet discounted the company's potential are all characteristics of their Canadian equity portfolios. CIC's active fixed-income style applies multiple investment strategies to the management of bonds. Based on economic and market forecasts derived from our top-down approach, the fixed-income team employs a range of investment strategies, such as interest rate anticipation, yield curve management, trading among sectors, individual security selection and credit analysis to moderate risk and enhance portfolio returns. The firm uses a team approach to investment management. Portfolio managers, specialized by asset class, operate from the same investment outlook and participate in the asset mix decision.
