Daniël Jan Ellens

Daan Ellens serves on the supervisory board of Zealand (DK).
He was, until recently, chief executive officer of Rhein Biotech, a global biotechnology group, which develops, produces and markets vaccines and therapeutic compounds based on its platform technologies.
As the CEO, Dr. Ellens restructured Rhein Biotech from a German contract research organization into a rapidly growing worldwide operating biotech group, listed at the Neuer Markt in Frankfurt .
In 2002, he merged Rhein Biotech with Berna, based in Switzerland , thus positioning the combined entity as the world’s number one pure-play vaccine company.
He was instrumental in developing the company until where it is today.
Daan Ellens received his PhD in Molecular Biology of the University Utrecht in 1974 and an MBA degree from the Technical University Eindhoven and the University of Tilburg in1992.
Daan’s extensive and successful track record as one of the most successful European biotech entrepreneurs adds significant value to the LSP team and investment process.
