North of South uses two strategies: (1) a Global Emerging Market strategy and one long-short global emerging market strategy; or (2) a long-only Global Emerging Markets strategy. While they expect to invest primarily in quoted equities, it will also invest in unquoted equities (the proportion of assets invested in such securities is expected to be low or non-existent and be limited by the terms of the Mandate).

The firm has a team of dedicated African-origin investment managers in place in Africa which travels extensively in core African markets to meet with companies and closely monitor the macro-economic development of Africa economies.

GCM is an active, risk-aware manager that uses a proprietary database to help select stock and generate ideas. The firm seeks to invest in quality companies that are leaders in their regional or global industries. They perform fundamental analysis, including company visits, to uncover valuation anomalies and better understand companies and industries.
