Alpha Pi Mu is a national honor society dedicated to recognizing academic achievement, leadership, and professional dedication in industrial and systems engineering. The private company is based in Blacksburg, VA. It is the only nationally accepted honor society specifically for industrial engineering and has 68 active chapters, primarily within industrial, systems, and manufacturing engineering departments. Membership is open to undergraduate and graduate students in ABET-accredited or comparable industrial engineering programs who meet scholastic criteria and demonstrate leadership, ethical behavior, sociability, and broad interests. Graduate students and faculty are also encouraged to join. The society provides academic and leadership recognition, professional development opportunities, networking, and support for industrial engineering education. Alpha Pi Mu is governed by an executive council with university representatives and regional vice presidents overseeing chapters within seven regions. The organization offers resources such as chapter forms, scholarship applications, award information, national documents, and honor stoles for graduation, and has adapted to virtual initiation ceremonies.
