Simon M. Surtees

Mr. Simon M.
Surtees is Head of Credit Research at Société Générale SA. He was previously employed as a Portfolio Manager by BNY Mellon Asset Management and Co-Head of Fixed Income by Gartmore Investment Ltd. He joined Gartmore in September 2002 from Bear Sterns International where he was Managing Director for European Fixed Income Credit Research.
He was Deputy Head of a team of 10 analysts and was jointly responsible for high grade and high yield telecoms research, as well as the tobacco sector.
Prior to this, Mr. Surtees was Senior Corporate Analyst and a Founding Member of the Credit Research Team at BNP Paribas with responsibility for European corporate issues.
Before joining BNP Paribas, he worked as a Senior Credit Analyst for HSBC Markets and formerly ING Barings, where he was responsible for rating advisory, primary and secondary market research.
His earlier work experience was gained with NatWest Markets as an Assistant Director in the group's Credit Rating Unit where he headed a small team of analysts.
Mr. Surtees is a Chartered Accountant, previously spending four years working within Arthur Andersen's Financial Markets Division.
He has a BA honours degree in Modern History, Politics and Economics (University of Southampton).
